Need help.

Last summer my submersible heater with a remote temperature set went out. The heater is still in the tank under the false bottom so removing the heater is not a option. I removed the thermostat and now the problem is that the heater just runs on full power till I unplug it. What I need is a probe connected to a thermostat that will turn the heater off at a certain temperature. Any ideas? Thanks in advanced.

Here's a suggestion...you could wire a waterproofed thermocouple to your setup and place the thermocouple in a water feature as deep as it will go.
