I have an interesting question.

My ferret has become quite good at using her paper/liter box. She even fakes it sometimes for treats. (It's too cute. Seriously.)

Ok, here's what happened. MeepMoop peed on her paper, then she turned around and decided to sample it. She has never done this before. I was wondering if this could be just a random thing, or if she might be lacking something in her diet. She ALWAYS has fresh food and water available. I only feed her high quality ferret food. She's got a great coat and her nails grow like crazy. She's very active, has a good temperament, and spends most of the day outside of her cage. She's only about two years old, and seems to be very healthy. Does anyone have any idea why MeepMoop might decide to drink her own urine?????

NOTE: She has never eaten her feces. It was only pee.

Sorry for the lengthy explanation. I just wanted to give you guys plenty of backround information.

Really noone is 100 percent sure why ferrets drink their urine. Some people think it is a way for ferrets to get liquid, so make sure that you ferret has plenty of fresh water that is easily accessible. It is actually fairly common and it does not harm them though so it is nothing to worry about.
