Scabs on backs...

muscy_mel Sep 04, 2006 03:16 PM

Hi,

I have 3 Polecat/Ferrets. About 2 weeks ago two of them obviously had been playing roughly and both got scabs on their backs. The wounds are dry and have scabbed up, but seem to be taking a long time to heal. The scab sizes are about the same size as a 2p coin {British coin that is}.

Is this normal for Ferrets?
How long does this type of injury take to heal?

Any information would be greatful.
Thanks
Mel x

I've had mine get scrapes and stuff before, it can take a week or two for them to go away completely, sometimes longer if it's a big spot. It seems like it depends on the size of wound sometimes. Do they look like they might be getting infected, or do they just look like they are healing but it's taking a while?

Hey

The scabs are fairly big. They are healing well, and are dry (which is good), but it just seems to be taking a long time to completely disappear... it's now been around 3 weeks.

I just wondered if this was normal. My ferrets don't seem to take notice of the scabs, and otherwise seem to be fine.

Thanx Mel
