rescued ferret

Hi all! I just rescued a ferret today... his owners just had a baby and got a dog, and the dog HATES the ferret. So they gave him to us! I'm actually quite excited, as I do reptile rescue and my fiance has been wanting a ferret so he can have a pet he can care for on his own. So here's Peanut!

He's fairly young, according to his previous owners. They had him about six months, and they said that he was pretty small when they got him. He's pretty thin right now, just because they've been trying to get him to eat dog food for the last month, because they ran out of ferret food and didn't want to buy any more... poor little guy!

He loves kitten chow, and he's currently napping in an old chopped up hoodie of mine...

What is he eating in that one picture? Have you done all the research on ferrets so that you know what you are getting into? You can feed cat food but it has to be a very high quality food....there are alot of good ferret foods out there to feed as well. Totally Ferret is a great food and zupreem is not too bad either.
