i heared gerbils are visius and will bite and stuff. is this true? And can i keep one or two in a old hamster cage?

Nope. I don't think gerbils are vicious at all. Of course a gerbil CAN bite, but that's with all animals when they are scared or feel like they are being attacked. In my opinion, I think gerbils are tons more friendly than hamsters, and take less time to get used to you as well.

You can keep a gerbil in a old hamster cage if it's not made of plastic. A gerbil is a tiny chewing machine and will easily chew out of a plastic cage (in addition they could shallow plastic shards and get sick or die). You could keep a gerbil in a wire cage but gerbils like to dig and burrow so you'd have an awful mess to clean up. Your best bet for 2 gerbils is a 15-20 gallon fish tank which is by far the best and easiest house for a gerbil.

Typically gerbils are fairly easy going and docile animals, but a few individuals show up from time to time that are a bit on the sociopathic side (can't be kept with other gerbils or handled due to extreme agressive behavior).
