mike7934 Oct 11, 2003 06:58 PM

I just got a crested gecko a week agon on the 5th. it's about 4 inches from head to tail. I have him in a 10 gallon tank with some plants and branches to hide. the problem he's not eating. I put 3 crickets in a bowl and he didn't touch them. then the next day i just let them run around in his cage. he still didn't eat them. so i waited a two days to feed him again. i put 3 in his bowl, he didn't eat them. i also have crushed fruit in there for him every night he doesn't seem to touch. I don't know what's wrong. please help

Thanks
Mike.

Put in peach baby food or hawian delight baby food mine love both, he should take them a lot of cresteds wont touch invertabrates. Put some vitamins and calcium mixed in the food once they start eating it.

Hope i helped

Sean,
Most crested geckos will eat crix; it’s usually the aurics and leachies that can be more difficult. But anyway are you supplementing the baby food you are feeding properly, or is that it? Because you need to include some protein in the diet, otherwise you are just feeding him pure sugar and he is not going to grow. Use the mix bill mentioned or other kinds of fruit just make sure you have a protein source.

Try this: Mix one jar of Banana baby food, one jar of peach baby food, and one jar of turkey or chicken babyfood. Add a few pinches of calcium with d3 and a pinch of a vitamin supp. Put a dab (about a teaspoon) in a lid so it does not fill the entire lid. This is so you can inspect it the next day to see if it ate any. Put the lid Near a perch, like at the bottum of a stick that it uses. Do not put crix in also that night. See if he ate any the next day. You might want to try to hand feed a little of this mix also. The mixture could be frozen also. If it seems to like this food, it is alright for it to eat the mix regularly. You could also try out the t-rex crested gecko food.
good luck
