Hi everyone.

Recently, (if you take a look at my last post 'bout illness) one of my Gerbils, Milk, had been underweight.
He also developed a slightly sorte nose so I took him to the Vets. I think he got the sore nose from an allergy. I used a different brand of wood shavings for a week because I couldn't get to my normal supplier.
The Vet said that he had a mouth infection and that he was having trouble eating as a result of it. SO he gave me some anti-biotics for it. Milk has gained some wieght but his nose looks even sorer because he's rubbed some fur off.
I was wondering if anyone knew of anything I can do to stop him rubbing at it and making it worse???? I'm hoping the anti-biotics will help but he still scratches.

Bye
Pelham

I have two gerbils, and i've had one with a similar problem, kept rubbing the wound making it worse! anyways, to help him stop rubbing, i made sure i spent alot of time holding him and stroking that area to maybe curb itching, and my vet advised me to maybe rub a soothing lotion on like vaseline or such to stop irritation. Just make sure it doesn't have anything harmful in it he could maybe lick off. I hope this helps.
