xoxprincessx0x Oct 06, 2003 04:55 PM

Hi..tomorrow I am goin to buy a gerbil and I dont know what kind or what to get him. I am going to get a baby but I was wondering if you know how I can train them not to bite and to be good with humans and what to get them for their tank. Thanks..Heather

Hi Heather,

First off don't just buy one gerbil, they really need company, buy two of the same sex. I love my little gerbils but did you know they are a bit jumpy. Try holding them all the time. Make sure you have a metal wheel for them( the kind that is tail safe) they love chewing on plastic. If you have them in an aquarium make sure you have a level or something cause mine seem to cover over their food with bedding. For fun I honestly just take a pringles contanier and wipe the inside down and take the metal side off and give it to them, they will chew it up but they love it, Plus you get a treat too. Anything you give them they will chew but those things that are wood logs all attached to eachother that you can bend anyway you want, mine like it.

good luck with your new gerbils!!
