what type of bedding should i use?

i wanted to know if pine bedding is safe for gerbils?i got my 2 gerbils when they were 3 weeks old.i got them from a friend.my friend always used pine bedding for them.my 2 gerbils are now 5 weeks old.they dont look sick to me .they seem healthy.i just want to know if i should switch bedding to something else?if so which bedding should i use?thank you

hi the best bedding to use is carefresh, corn cob or aspen bedding. it is safe for them and contains no chemicals if they ingest it.

Pine can be okay, just let it air out for a week or so before putting it into the cage. Sometimes it contails oils that can cause allergic reactions in yor gerbils. This is really a case-to-case basis, like how some people are allergic to cats.
I personally have a dirt setting for mine, so they have a more natural environment. This allows them to build tunnels like they would in nature. Though, I'm afraid mine aren't very good diggers. They just burrow under anything I set in the cage until it falls ontop of them. ^_^;
