My TWO!!! new bunnies

earwiggy May 08, 2004 08:08 AM

I just got two Mini Lop bunnies, that are around 7 weeks old. One is broken (male), and one is like a charcol brown (female). I am going to post pics, but haven't had time to take any yet, they are to cute.

3 Ques.

When they click, while you are holding them or something, does that mean they are mad?

Kinda silly, but how can I tell when they are happy, I can't really tell.

I want to breed mine once, and see how easily they sell, and stuff like that. But how do I know when they are pregnant?

Congrats on your new babies first off! But I was kind of troubled by the last part of you post. Umm, if you don't know the answers to those questions, do you really think you should allow your rabbits to breed? Maybe it best be left to more experienced rabbit owners.

But as to your other questions, I don't know what you mean by when they "click," like a noise they make? Please describe it a little more.

And I can tell my rabbit is happy because she'll grind her teeth, sounds kind of weird, but it's true. You'll learn how to read their body language in no time!

Can't wait to see them !

I also do not know what you mean by clicking?
If bunnys are upset, or scared, they will make a low grunting sound, but never heard a click!

As far as breeding and care , heres a HOMEWORK assignment.

thank you.

Sometimes when I am holding them (and that is not often, because they would rather be on the ground), I hear a little clicking. When I first got them, they would do it when I took them out. Now I rarely here it.

PS-thanks for the sites!

okay. Are these rabbits related in anyway? Because if they are, you cannot breed them back to each other. Your going to get extra body parts, and its not so pretty. When they make cliking noises, sometimes its them grinding on their teeth. Because rabbits DO have 28 teeth, and if they are babies, they are probably all just coming in, so it irritates them. It usually can also mean they are giving you a sign that they need to go "to the bathroom". When they are happy, usually the males have their tales up, they make a loud smacking sound with their feet if you let them run around. One thing with breeding, you know you have to have a nestbox. You need to put it in on the 28th day of the doe's pregnancy. The way you can tell if the buck got the doe pregnant, the buck will literally pop off of the doe backwards or sideways. So, its pretty easy to tell from right there.
