AHHHHH!!! A mess

earwiggy Jun 12, 2004 06:25 AM

Ok, I finally trained my rabbits to use a litter box "YEAH!" Well, for the first week I was using Cedar chips, which I know aren't good for them but my mom was making me use them up, as litter. When those ran out, I started using Pine Chips, which I know aren't great for them either, but know they won't go near the litter box. In fact, they are going everywhere but. It is not the poops we mind, cause those never get into the litter box, BUT THOSE WILL DRY and become easy to clean up. It is the pee,it is a hassle to clean up. HELP, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need something absorbant, how about that Fresh care stuff think its pictured in the pic above your post in Dublins cage.

It has a nice fresh smell and is very absorbant. I just can't think of the proper name, just fresh care or Fresh Scent???

The only other thing, if your looking to NOT have to SPEND is shredded newspaper, it absorbs, but you will still have to clean it regularly to control the smells.

Others may have the name of the stuff I'm thinking of or something better. Hang in there we will fix the problem. LOL

My set up is different I have a 4 ft long cage with a wire bottom that everything falls into a tray beneath.

So I use newspaper in the tray, below, but in the corner she always goes in, I put kitty litter, (in that area of tray.) But she never comes in contact with it, being beneath her.

The stuff in Dublin's cage is Carefresh....its made of 100% recycled paper....thats why I like it....plus its very absorbent and pretty easy to clean...the gray is duster then the white....but the white is like 4 dollars more a bag....You can get a huge bag for about 9-11 bucks....and it lasts a good long time....I used it for my two rats I used to have also and it works well.
