Hi...I have 3 small baby rabbits about 7 - 10 days old and both the mother and father have died. How and what do I feed them and is there any other advice you can give me to help keep them alive. thanking you Cate

Just as a note, the use of colustrum in rabbits is in debate. Many people say it does not really do much for the newborn kits, unlike in most animals. In my experience, it does not seem to have any affect if the kits get it or not. I have very successfully fostered newborn kits onto does that had been milking for a week or so (meaning the colustrum is no longer present in the milk), and saw no difference between those kits and the kits that stayed with their original mother from birth. However, the milk content DOES change as the kits get older. It is much richer in about 3 weeks than at birth because at that age, the kits are growing like weeds and are really pulling a lot out of the doe. The same amount of milk each day has to be enough for bigger, older kits so it has to be richer.
