Ok, yesterday I brought home the FEMALE dwarf from the vets office. They thought it was a male until they went to castrate and ended up doing a spay, lol. The tech called me and apoligised for the error, I laughed and said that it was ok. It really doesn't matter to me or my kids. So Crystal Blue (wht dwarf w/blue eyes) came home yesterday and I added her to my group. Making 4 bunnies total. Each having their own cage.
Anyway to get on with my question I gave Crystal a toilet paper cardboard roll to play with. Only to find her 1/2 hour later with it stuck on her head! I flipped out, I'll admit. I rescued her from her "toy" and now I am wondering WHAT can I safely give her to chew on and play with? The others love the toilet paper rolls and I give them my dogs indistructable(sp) balls that they love to push around but crystal apparently can't have the rolls and the balls are double her size. She is very very tiny. What is safe for her? I gave her a shoe box to chew on and sleep in but she will not touch it. She just wants to be held on my chest with her head on my neck. And this is her normal behavior from what I understand from the vets office. She doesn't play, she wants to be held. Um, what do I do to entertain her or mentally entertain her?

any advise is appreciated

Erin

some rolls of wrapping paper have a smaller tube, have you tried that? i work at a vet hospital so i save the little cardboard tubes out of the vet wrap. maybe you can ask your vet to save you some. i just ordered a bunch of different types of wood from somewhere that sells natural pet products, my bunnies love anything they can throw around and chew on. one of my bunnies favorite thing to play with is a small blanket or towel they love to bunch it up and scoot it around.

Funny, I work for a vet too. He gave me the Cadaver bag rolls. They are hard cardboard (I think its pressed cardboard, if there is such a thing). She is so tiny, its like a house to her. She loves it and started to chew on it today. My other bunnies and ferrets love them too. Perhaps you can get ahold of some and try them with yours. The large cadaver ones are great, its a longer tube than the small and they just love running thru it. The small ones they just love to throw around, just like you said yours do. I haven't given them wood to chew on b/c I'm not sure whats safe and whats not.

my bunnies love the cadaver rolls. they love to push them around. the place i buy wood from sells mullberry, willow and cotton wood. they don't use any chemicals to clean them. i also give them clippings from my apple tree.
