Bloody urine

chunks_89 Jan 13, 2005 07:19 PM

My bunny was scurrying around being her normal self and i went by her normal bathroom spot and noticed her puddle of pee was very red, I assume from bleeding.
Do rabbits have estrous bleeding, could that be the case? She is very lively, eating and drinking well, and responding well to handling. There was no bloody urine in her cage.
What could this be and what should I do?
Thanks!

Hi,
You rabbit is fine...Your bunny has to much fiber in his body and he is getting rid of it...Maybe your feeding alfalfa hay??I suggest timothy..But if he is not acting normal, you might need a vet.But he will be fine..

The rust color could be due to a particular food it's eating. There should be nothing to worry about. But, if you're still worried, I would suggest changing it's diet for a day to see if the urine still reamins the same color.
