Couple of questions

angel416 Jan 18, 2005 11:37 PM

I have 2 bunnies. A broken red male mini rex and a red female.
The bunnies live in one large cage seperated into two seperate units. The male lives on top and the female in the bottom unit.

The other day I was away from home and returned the next morning to find both bunnies in the male's cage. I seperated them immediately, but am now preparing in the event that my doe might be pregnant.

Anyone have any advice on how to build a nest box for her. Also, when exactly to put the box in?

Anyone have advice on how to figure out what the color of any babies might be?

I know my male is the product of a red and a tricolor and the female is the product of a red female (I believe originally from castor lines) and a broken red (he was the product of a red and a tri color).

Build a nest box for your doe the is 3 inches bigger than her.So 3 inches wider, taller longer.Tell me what day she was bred, and I can tell you what day she will have them. You have to put the box 3 days before the kindling date.

Thanks for the help.
Can I put hay in the next box? Or should i also add cafre fresh bedding or pine shavings?

Any guesses on color?

ReptileGurl08 Jan 21, 2005 08:33 PM

Hey,
I never have used care fresh bedding..Ive used pine shavings at the bottom of the box in the winter time.I put the hay in the nestbox, and the doe makes the hole...She'll jump in and have her babies and then she should pull fur.If she dont, you need to flip her over and PULL FUR!This does not hurt the doe..Plus if you dont the babies will starve...
