Rabbit fur loss along spine...big problem??

Madimmkay Apr 11, 2005 04:58 PM

My male rabbit has been losing a considerable amount of fur along his spine. I don't think it could be overgrooming, because I don't think he could reach around to almost the back of his neck, but I'm not sure. He does have another small male dwarf rabbit living in his pen, but they do not stay together, and I am sure the other rabbit would not be grooming him. I also do not think it's battle scars, because it is just along his spine. The area along the bald strip DID look wet, but I'm not sure if that's from a skin condition, or overgrooming or possibly mites. The area of baldness has escalated over a couple of days. I have not gotten a really close look at him to see if he has mites or bumps, but it doesn't appear that way with the symptoms. What do you think it could be?

Hi, Are you sure your little male bunny is not pulling the big guys hair out? Not fighting but just pulling it out !
