My Cleo is in bad shape. When I got up this morning she looked bad. She was just sitting on her bed, listlessly. Her eyes looked dull and lifeless. I tried to feed her and she wpouldn't eat.I put her in her pen outside to see if it would perk her up but she just sat there. I brought her down to work for x rays. Her stomach was huge and full of fluids. We drew blood on her and most of her values were way of.The doctor said this was because she was dehydrated. He felt that she had some kind of impaction. We knew surgery would be risky but both felt we needed to be agressive in treating her and really had no other options. We hooked her up to iv fluids and let them run a little while befor surgery. As soon as the doctor opened her up we saw a large pocket of fluids in the intestine. Once her drained all that he opened th stomach and took out a lot of food. It wasn't hard like you usually see with an impaction. After exploring a little further he found that one of the valves food passes through ( can't remeber the name right now) was very thick. Iy just looks wrong. We biopsied it but it takes awhile to get results back. I have a bad feeling it is cancer. I stayed a few hours after she woke up. She seems to be recovering well from the surgery but I'm so afraid this will just happen again. I don't want to lose her.

Thanks PHEve!

I went and visited her today. She was much brighter and ate the herbs and hay I brought for her. I hope to bring her home tommorow. I am trying to decide if I should keep her seperate from Luna. They are so close I worry about keeping them apart. I am gonna be a nervous wreck waiting for the biopsy results.

Here is hoping that Cleo is feeling much better soon. It must be hard waiting for the results.

The doctor discharged Cleo today. She is doing good. Eating well and happy to be home. She was so happy to see Luna. And Luna was happy to see her. She groomed the ear the catheter was in for about an hour. I am so relieved to have her home. I was afraid she wouldn't make it through the first night. I spent all three nights sleeping (or trying to) with the phone by the bed, hoping not to get that dreaded call. I am so hoping that things continue to go well. That this was just a fluke and won't happen again.

Luna and Cleo are the bunnies pictured on the top of the page. Cleo is the brown, Luna the black.

The biopsy results came back yesterday. I was so happy and relieved. It was not cancerous and the cells looked completely normal. Then this morning I took her out to feel her stomach and it feels like she is starting to get distended again. For a month or so leading up to all of this her tummy was looking bigger but I thought it was normal weight gain. I feel so drained.I was an emotional wreck the week after I lost Edward. I woke up feeling good on friday. I was ok all day. Then Saturday the trouble with Cleo started. I was stressed all week, then felt happy yesterday. Now I am back to being worried. I want off this emotional roller coaster.
