My pretty girl Licorice died :0( Last week

PHEve Oct 14, 2005 11:08 AM

Very sad, I had her for quite a long time, I will miss her bouncing around in her big long cage when she heard me coming. She always expected some sort of treat, loved CHEERIOS

I was quite in shock to have seen her fine at about 2 in the morning last thurs, before I went to bed. Just to find her Friday morning about 9am. with her head tilted very badly to one side and her eye on the tilted side, very bulged out.

I immediately remembered something I read and looked it up, sure enough it was exactly her condition.
It's called Wry-neck and you guys may want to be aware of it, although all the bunnies I have ever had I have never seen it before.

It was just terrible looking, and said it can either show slowly or just BAM and it's there which was the case.

I knew I had to get her to a vet but our vechicle was in the shop until later. The effected eye does not blink anymore or close so you must keep it moist , which I did.

I put some collard greens and a carrot down for her (she showed no interest. I left for about 1/2 hour returned to see if she ate. I heard her cry twice, then rolled to her side in distress, so I held her and patted her head and talked, and that fast she was GONE.

I could not believe it, shocking and sad. I will miss her !
Heres a link you may want to see. **Link is UNDER Her Pic **

I am so sorry to hear about Licorice. Wry neck is a scary thing. It does hit out of nowhere. One of my girls had it a few years ago. She recovered, but it was tough.
I bet she is hopping around with my Edward. Both enjoying their new, healthy bodies.

Her is a picture of Cleo and Luna. Cleo is the brown one, Luna the black. It's been a little over a month since Cleo's surgery and she is doing great.

Here is Nibbler. I adopted him from the pound a month or so ago.He is one of the few rabbits I've had who loves to be held. He is by himself right now but I hope to get him a friend soon.

This is Button. She is the one who had wry neck as a baby. She recovered but a lost her a few years later to what I think was pasturella pneumonia.

Here is a picture of Edward relaxing outside. I bet he's having a blast with my Button and your Licorice right now.
