mmellott Oct 11, 2003 08:23 PM

i purchased an "iguana light 5.0 uvb" fluoresent bulb. my question is...it says it "Emits the highest amounts of both UVB and UVA wavelengths in a linear fluorescent lamp.". question is...does this mean as long as i keep the temp's where they are suppose to be i do not need another light for uva? or am i wrong? thanks in advance

or can i just use an ordinary light bulb as long as he has the uva/uvb? i just read on http://www.greenigsociety.org/heatlighthumidity.htm
that ordinary incandescent light bulbs are fine for the basking area....right? or do i have to use the basking light bulb? thanks

Yes you can use just a regular incandescent bulb for heat...a flourescent bulb wont emit the heat needed to keep your ig warm enough...and you can get a simple work light dome from Home Depot or Walmart for that...good luck..Lyn

thanks, cuz i did go n bought a spot light but it keeps the basking spot at 102 degrees, which i believe is too hot...so the regular bulbs seem to keep it more at 90 or a little above...thanks....

You are correct. You can use a regular household bulb for
heat.
