I have read everything I could find on rabbits before I adopted any and I never read this until last week, I don't remember where, but it said that rabbits are nocturnal, I've never heard that before, has anyone else? It doesn't seem like they are from what I've noticed with my rabbits.

Rabbit's are usually said to be either nocturnal, or diurnal. I always found them to be more diurnal myself - which means they're usually awake in the morning and evening, but sleep during midday and midnight.

Studys have been done to suggest that rabbits like to be awake when it's quietest. If the settings they were in were quietest at night, they were more active at night, ect. They also determined that the feeding and interaction time of humans effected when the animals were awake. For example, if they took a rabbit that was usually nocturnal in nature and only offered it food during the day, the rabbit would adopt a more diurnal lifestyle.

So anyways, sorry to go all scientific on you, lol, I'm in collage working toward a wildlife biology degree so I can't help it sometimes.

It would not be too strange if your pet rabbits are awake more during the day, since I'm guessing that's when you feed and interact with them. Wild rabbit would probably be awake more toward the morning and evenings but pet rabbits often adapt to their schdules to be awake when it's best for them

Hope that helped!
