Pairing troubles

SarahRuss Jan 09, 2007 11:48 AM

I recently got a female spayed rabbit, partly by accident. My hope was to eventually pair her with a neutered male I already had, seeing as how she was lonely. Their cages were side by side, till she decided he wasn't to be tolerated and flipped. She gets along much better with my intact male, is it healthy for an intact male and a spayed female to interact in anyway?
Thanks in advance!

How long did you try to pair her with the fixed male? Pairing usually takes some time.

However, if she doesn't like him she doesn't like him. As long as she is spayed you wont have to worry about pregnancy or anything, but I would suggest getting the other male fixed as well because he will still want to mate with her and she probably wont be interested, which can cause problems.

She only met the fixed male twice, but she REALLY didn't like him....Now, the funny thing is, I introduced her to my intact male (Basil) and she was much more interested than he was! She kept coming up to him, he'd groom her and she'd groom him, then she'd bounce off and twitch her tail, sometimes circling him and doing high jumps. He just looked nervous and sat there! He finally followed her, but not far. She seemed pretty disappointed when I took him to his home. What else can I do to help her out? Thanks for the post!
