Tattoo inside ear...

armiyana Mar 20, 2007 03:14 AM

I was mostly curious about where it could have come from.

I found a gorgeous little lop outside on my way home from the bus. She was just chilling out on the sidewalk. It was hot (Southern CA) and she was already mildly dehydrated/malnurished and had some diarreah. I took the poor girl home and nursed her back up to health.

After posting some fliers there were still no answers and she started to grow on us so we kept her at my place. I noticed a tattoo in her ear, and just wondered where that could mean she was from...

Any ideas?

Hi, she sounds very sweet, great you have picked her up and taken and cared for her.

She must be a registered show bunny, they do it to identfy them from breed or even from a certain rabbitry.

Here is a brief statement I found on a rabbit site.

* All animals which are shown are registered ARBA registration system must be tattooed. This practice also provides positive identification for the purposes of record-keeping and protection against theft.

So somebody lost that bunny or it accidently got out I suppose. Maybe you could find a bunny registry ARBA or site near where you live and contact them , or post a lost bunny with a tatto in ear and see if someone gets back to your post.

Only give that number to registry authority or if a person gets back to you and gives you the bunnies tattoo number themselves. to proof it is truely their bunny.

Let us know how this turns out, maybe you will just have a pretty show bunny now, LOL

All of my show rabbits have tatoos in their ear. It is quite common.
