old siberian dwarf hamster!

berneselover1234 May 07, 2003 08:57 PM

I have a 5 year oldsiberian dwarf hamster. He is doing awful! I think I' taking such good care of him by peeling his sunflower seed shells and making him drink. He is losing his hair and has some kind of growth on his body. I want him to be as comfortable as possable. I can tell if he is living a heathy and happy life or just living.
please give me some suggestions!

Wow, five years is pretty long for a hamster. I'd say you're doing a pretty good job if it's gotten so far. Hair loss is natural as a hamster gets older, though I'm not sure about the growth. Some dwarf hamsters are known to have cancer, so that's one possibility.
