My new hampster

Innes May 27, 2003 06:19 AM

I got my first ever mamal which was a hampster 2 weeks ago, it is cute, and black and can hang from its cage roof wile doing the monkey bars when its not sleeping or running in its weel.
it is a sirien hampster(sp)and I noticed the other day when it was streching one of its back legs that it has a lump on its bum, it is hidden most of the time under the hampster, and I have no idea what it is, what should I do?

it looks like part of the hampster, not like a spot.
it looks to be coverd in fur, but it is a lump anout the size of a pea.
I am reluctant to go to a vet as I do not have much money.

also the hampster seems to behaive as you would expect, but it feels quite warm when I hold it, and I think it keeps pissing on me, but in really small amounts that I hardly notice.

All I'll say is - is it a male hamster?

I think it is a male, but this does not look like male parts, it looks like a lump on the back of one of its legs at the top - possibly a tumor or something.

however I am no hampster expert so it could be a male hampster thing - what do you all think, and do you know of any other good hampster sites?
