Anyone who can help with my hamster?

courtney72288 Nov 20, 2003 03:31 PM

My hamster, Vladislav, quite obviously has a tumor. A large tumor. It just spread to the other side of his belly. He eats a little bit but he's gotten thinner and hasn't drank/urinated in awhile. He hasn't filled his cheeks in awhile, either. I was just curious, is this common with tumors? And, what should I do with him? Should I put him to sleep or just let him go? Will he feel it? Thanks for any help.

Has the hamster seen a vet? If not do so asap.

Put the poor little fella out of his misery. Be careful about your method though. Hamsters are really tough. I breed rats to feed my python, and i kill em before i give them to "Bruce" But, one time i got a hold of a couple hamsters that wouldn't breed, so i decided to give them an "early retirement". And i used the same method i used to kill these huge rats (blunt head trauma), and it didn't work. I wacked those little fuzzballs twice as hard as the rats, to no avail. I ended up pitching them about 60 mph against a brick wall. That did the trick. Anyways, for minimum suffering, maybe you should give him a sleeping pill or some other drugs. Not if you plan to feed it to a reptile of course.
