bedding in wheel

demonia247 Mar 21, 2004 07:47 PM

My dwarf hamster is taking bedding from all over his cage and filling his wheel with it it's about 1/3 full. It's a solid habitrail wheel. Then he procedes to try and run in the wheel, which he succeeds but with a lot of effort. Then all of the bedding tumbles over top of him. Is there any reasoning behind his actions, or is he on crack?

Does he ever sleep in the wheel w/ the bedding? Sometimes my Syrian will run and run and run and then just plop down in the wheel and nap for a while. Sometimes he drags some shredded paper towel in there too. What can I say, hamsters are odd.

Sometimes she will sleep in it but it got to the point that the wheel would no longer turn since it had so much bedding in it. I came home one day after about a week, and she had removed all the bedding from the wheel and hasn't put any in since. I also noticed that she was a lot more moody than normal during that week.
