I think my hamster is in labor, but I can't tell.

Two dear friends of mine who raise hamsters gave me a pair of Russian Dwarf hamsters, a boy and a girl. Well, as far as I can tell, the little girl has gone into labor, but I'm not sure. She's pretty much just laying on the bottom of the cage under her water bottle and is panting rather hard. She's soaking wet and the boy hamster seems to have built a nest around her and is laying on top of her. She won't eat or drink and I have to shoo him away from her just to make sure she's still breathing. Would someone mind telling me what's going on? These are my first hamsters. Thanks.

Did she have any pups? If so check out this page on breeding: http://www.debs81.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/breeding.html

Or will also need to remove the male as they will mate.
