New dwarf hamster sudden death

I have had my new dwarf hamster for 6 days and he died suddnely today. One minute he was walking around and I went to get him a treat and 30 seconds later when I returned he was dead. I have no idea what caused this. There is nothing that could have poisoned him or anything like that. Is this at all common?

when you purchased him , he had something he had contracted from others in the pet shop.

That is strange and certainly leaves you not only feeling badly, but puzzled like you say!
Especially if he appeared to be okay.

But maybe he NEVER was okay, just APPEARED to be. I wish I knew what to tell you, but my goodness as sad as it is, it could have been so many things.

And unless you had the body examined, you will never know for sure what happened.

Very sorry ya lost him, before you ever got to know him
