PLEASE HELP-- large lump on hampster

gusthebus Oct 04, 2004 08:19 PM

I have a dwarf hampster that is 2 years old. Last night I discovered a rather large lump on his left side by his back leg. It is pretty big and causes him to limp around a bit, but doesn't cause him any pain. He still runs around and I can touch it without him flinching or making any noises. I'm afraid that this lump might be a tumor. Is there anything else it could be? Is there anything I can do for the poor little guy? Please help me, I don't know what to do.

Hi,
sounds like it could be a tumor, although its weird that it got that large without you ever noticing it before. Is he with any other hamsters?

The reason I ask is maybe it was a bite that got infected, I have seen them get pretty swelled with infection.

Whatever it is , it probably should be looked at by a Vet, it is to difficult to try and figure what it could be over the computer. I would have him seen, especially if hes limping
you say it does not seem to hurt, but if hes limping it must not feel good.

I hope he will be okay, and please let us know what the problem is when you find out. May help others.

Take care , wish you the best!
