Hi,
This is my first post, but searches didn't give any matches. My daughter has a Teddy Bear Hamster (got in August from pet store) that was injured in August by grandmother's dog. The paw definitely appeared broken, but she seemed to get past it and could climb and get around, just a bit more slowly. This week (3 months later), we noticed that the paw's toes are gone and it is now a stump that is black and hard. She does not seem to be in any pain, still just hangs it as she has since the accident, and she is eating and drinking and moving about her cage as usual.

What does the black stump indicate? I am worried about gangrene or some other issue that could cost her her life. She is such a sweet girl. Or is it something that will not cause pain for her? I don't want her to become pained or to suffer, but amputation would be rather drastic I would think.

Anyone out there experience this situation and what was the outcome? Additional info?

Thanks in advance,
