Dwarf Hammies

racecar_macy Apr 23, 2005 04:10 PM

I have two dwarf hamsters, a male and a female. I have had them together for 3 weeks now, and the female is not visibly pregnant. Is there any reason why they would not be breeding?

dwarfs have an 18-21 day cycle. They can also be choosy about who they mate with. It might take some time for the pair to bond. Females also will not breed if stressed. Changing from the pet shop to your home, could be enough stress to do that. Give them some time. It could be 8-12 weeks before you see pups.
