Time for a periodic check - is a single gene albino Syrian hamster still unknown?
Local petstore has an adult male of unknown origin that sure looks like one. Is there anyway to tell if it's a Dark Eared White Cinnamon? I don't see any dark in the ears at all but don't know if the cinnamon is able to completely get rid of it in that combo for a synthetic albino Syrian.
I may just have to get a him and a female and spend a couple generations figuring it out. I suppose the quickest route would be a DEW or Cinnamon female to see if either can be eliminated as possible contributors first generation but I'm tempted to go with a calico so even if he does turn out to be a fake (likely) I'll at least be on my way on another calico project (did that several years ago, lots of fun, fairly good demand).
