Hi there,
My fiance and I just rescued two dwarf sisters from the animal shelter (they were inundated with hammies after some idiot allowed their hammies to breed and breed and breed and then dropped of 45 dwarfs, some of which were pregnant). They are young, and we are currently keeping them together and monitoring them closely for any fighting. I have done a lot of reading and can't seem to get a clear answer on whether keeping them together works or doesn't. Some say "social" some say "solitary"....it seems highly situational.
Anyway, back to my quesiton, what is the best diet for dwarfs. They sent us home with some Hagen bird pellets and said to feed them Regal Rat (which what we feed our three ratties). But the regal rat seems pretty large. I have read that Hazel Hamster is good, but it seems like it has a lot of sugary stuff like peas and carrots. We are giving them fresh greens and some seed, any suggestions would be great.
