Do hamsters always find the water bottle

humanvege Jun 11, 2007 04:54 PM

Hi,

I just got a teddy bear hamster that appears to be healthy. I've gotten him for two days now and have been observing him. He spends most of his time running on the wheel and sniffing around the cage. He's been eating and pooping, but he hasn't been drinking. He finds and sniffs the top part of the water bottle but he never gets his way down to the tip of the pipe (where he would drink from). He has not been drinking and i am not sure will he find the water pipe?? The bottle is functioning just fine. I try to put a water dish in there but he kicks all the bedding in there and doens't drink from it either. I am worried that he might be dehydrated. what should I do?

You can get some milk in a spoon to feed it...

Get the water bottle a bit higher... it'll eventually get to drink when it's thirsty.
