Husbandry questions on Sugars.....

PuppyChulo May 26, 2003 11:34 AM

I'm seriously interested in Sugar Gliders. My first question is, do they have a smell like mice or other rodents? Mice and Rats have quite a strong smell and I live in a small apartment so I can't have an animal with a strong scent. I can't even have cats due to their scent. I do have 2 Chihuahuas, boas, pythons and birds. I have some extra cages that used to house Cockatiels, would that be a good cage for Sugar Gliders?

Sugar gliders are a fun pet,but they do have a rather strong odor. They are marsupials, and not actually rodents,so it is not really like a mouse or rat. In my experience I have found the sugar glider to have a stronger harder to remove or cover up scent than that of mice or rats, just my two cents - Drewsky

Sugar gliders dont have a strong scent. You cn definatly smell it but in my opinion its not bad.

They only smell if their cage isnt clean. I would have it/them in a seperate room without all the other animals. But be careful b/c I know a lot of those animals are not allowed in an apartment. Gliders are good animals for apartments if you can care for them but I think thats to many animals to care for a gldier.
