Glider housing.

Hi everyone

I have a question to ask.

I've had Sugar Gliders for more then 3 years now. I bought a pare, but they'd bred to about 15-18 now. I plan to order a large custom made cage for then, as their current (again custom made) cage is too small for the growing numbers.

I am unsure on the type of cage: long cupboard type (lots of length, much shorter width) vs not so long but wide, cube type (equal length and width), tall is obvious. So, which one is better, cupboard or cube??

It will be big enough for a person to walk in to clean it.

Thanks for help.

Natasha

Hi,

Well my custom PVC Coated cage is about 25"x30"x48" and it works great!

I think if you went to skinny on one side it would make it hard for you to place toys like ropes and stuff. I would think a cube would work out better for you and maybe your gliders won't feel so cramped. Just have a few doors so you can get to all the corners.

Hope that helps a bit,
Liz

I think you should have a 5'Highx3'Deepx3'Wide. My gliders are in a home built cage that is 5'Hx4'Wx2'D and it has wheels on it. It was used for chemeleons, but we disenfected it really good and it works fine.

The bigger the better. I would get the one that has more space. I think for 1 pair it should be at least 4'x2'x2'.
