I have never owned a Sugar Glider, but have seriously concidered it for the past two years.

I was just wondering, are they very smelly? How tame do they really get? Are they hard to keep? Are they legal in New York, Manhattan? Do parent Sugar Gliders recognize their own off-spring? Do they pair for life?

Well every wild animal has a smell to them. It doesnt stink up the house. They bond very closely to their owners. My friend said that one of her gliders knows its name and can come on command. Sugar gliders are very easy to care for if you are an animal person. Theres a difference between an animal lover and animal person. They are easy to care for if you know enough about them. I dont know the legalities in NY. I live in Philly and they are legal here. But just keep a low profile of it an dont tell anyone. If you get into a lot of trouble with the law than I wouldnt have one. The chances of you getting into trouble for having one are very slim, if you dont get into trouble with the law. Plus if you have an officer come into your house, he will either not recognize it if its in your bedroom and if he did see it he wouldnt know what the heck it is only b/c hes probably not an animal person. The mamma and the pappa can both stay in the cage with their babies. They know them very well and are very protective and good parents. If they are kept together all their life they wont "break up" lol its not like one will "dump" the other b/c 1 was cheating on the other LOL.
