taming/bonding

Hey all, need a little help. Got 10 wk old male and female gliders 5 days ago. Got em home let them relax a little and hand feed them watermelon inside cage. Next day boyfriend got a little a head of himself and tried to pick one up while it was running away and making crabbing. Anyone got any tips on how to tame them without scaring them? And, they seem to be getting caught in the pouch a lot. Is this because their nails need triming?

I am taking it slow with my approach to taming by talking to them and making small gestures. I have been reading a lot of posts on the internet about people taking them out right away and starting to bond. I am a little jealous, could this be because we bought ours at a pet store and others possibly bought hand raised from breeder??? Thanks so much for any help! Sorry for all the ?s.

Going very slow would be my biggest advise but also do you have a bonding tent or small area that you can play with your sg's in. This way you are not chasing them to retreive them. But the biggest way to their heart is still with treats just try and make your treats from healthy choices. Mine love blueberry bb food and fruit flavoured yogurt.
Petstore gliders tend to be a little less socialized but at 10 weeks they are still so young that it may take a bit longer but you should have no problem.
As for catching in the pouch , yes this is a nail trimming problem. myself I use nesting boxes to avoid possible hangups in the pouch but there are a few ppl out there now making nail trimming tracks that fit right in your wheel.
Congrats on your new bb's
go slow it will be well worth it in the end

What you need to do is...take the nest box (hiding places) out of their cage and put the gliders back in the cage. Then stick your hand in the middle of the cage with a treat on it. Soon enough, they'll be your best friend. What you can also do is buy a bonding pouch, and carry the gliders around in it during the day when they are sleeping. Soon enough they will be bonded. It takes time so dont get too frustrated if you cant get it right away.
