Seeking advice on new glider...

gratefuldead Mar 03, 2005 08:53 PM

Hey guys, I just got a new glider, an adult male, and he seems to be having a rough go at it. Over the past few weeks since I got him, he has developed a bald spot on the top of his dome and looks to have also developed a small scab. He is aggresive and flighty and whenever I try to take him out of his cage for interaction, he tries very hard to get away. I was feeding him a diet solely of dog food, which I now realize was wrong. I got him a larger cage and some new things to hide in and I vary his diet with an array of fruits and dog food. My worry is that because I bought an adult, he will be impossible to acclimate to human contact. I would like him to be sociable enough to spend time in my shirt pocket and such, but I think I am doing something wrong. Any help will be appreciated...

Please email me privatley immediatly!
You do need to fix one thing and I can help you with that and help you work with your guy to get him better socialized with you.
As for the blad spot, that is perfectly normal as he is male. All males get it.

Changes need to be made though. I am glad you are one of the responsable people who are seeking help!!!!!

What kind of diet is that Zoolady? I've never seen anything like that before? To me it looks like salsa, milk, hot dogs, and some fruit or something. I hope that's not what it is lol

ROFLMAO!!!! OMG NO! HAH!
It is Mixed Fruit, then next to the mixed fruit is Gerber babyfood meat sticks. Then the thing that looks like salsa is Mixed vegitables in a dish mixed with Gerber babyfood "Vegitable Stew Dinner" Which is just a bunch of mixed up vegis made to MUSH. lol But I find that many gliders are picky about eating vegis, but have no problems eating them with this stuff!
Theeenn the last dish, the milk looking stuff, is actuall 1/2 water, 1/2 fruitjuice, mixed with Gerber Rice Cereal! MAde to about a yogurt texture.
Where you see the fruits... I change fruits often from normal fruits like those, to tropical fruits, which they enjoy even more. And where you see the Gerber Meatsticks, I also will trade off with Boiled egg, boiled chicken, catfood, crickets, mealworms, and a few other protien products.
My gliders are so very spoiled.
