Are most baby Okeetees bad tempered? Do they grow out of it later?

moonpie Oct 11, 2003 09:40 PM

I just got a baby Okeetee a few weeks ago, and he is VERY mean tempered. He constantly rattles his tail and bites, as well as jumping and flailing around. I have a normal corn that is roughly the same age, and she is very laid back in comparison. While he cant do any real damage right now, it will be a different story when he is larger. If anyone has any experience with Okeetees, help me out. Thanks.

Hello,
Well from MY experience baby Okeetees tend to be more aggressive then other corn morphs. I bought a group of 50 corns and they were a mix of snows, Amels, Anery., Hypo, Ghost, Okeetees..Well all the babies were really mellow Except for the Okeetees they were really jumpy and liked to bite..
The good thing is if handled regularly , they should get use to you..I have seen plenty Adult Okeetees that are very tame and Beautiful.

Good Luck..

I had an Okee male for a while, and he was "okay" tempered. He was okay with handling, but would have preffered I stay away. I bred him to my laid back friendly snow female and they had 13 babies. Of the 13, one is mean. The mean one has been mean since it popped out of the egg, I call it "daddy's girl" even though I haven't sexed it, the tail looks female to me. My babies are now almost 5 months old, and most seem to be very docile, just the one rattles and get's on the offensive when I feed or clean her cage. Of all my snakes, the Okeetee's have been the grumpiest. She is also the most orange of the babies so far....but we'll see in a few more months if she looks as much like her Okee daddy.
