What are your parents concerns?
How much time do you have EVERY DAY to spend with your glider?
How much are you willing to put in EVERY DAY when it comes to your gliders diet? YOu have to chop up fresh fruits, fresh vegies, and protien every day for your glider.
It can get spendy for a pet.
How old are you?
Have you shown great responsability wit hall your pets so far? In cleaning, feeding, care, etc.?
Are you willing to keep this animal for possibly 15 years?
If you get one, you need a mate or friend, or they will get depressed and likely die. Can you do all this with to?
Can you afford two?
A sugar glider is not like a reptile (believe me I have plenty of reptiles and none compare to a gliders needs). You really need alot of care and responsability for them. I can understand your parents concerns for wanting to get one.
I really can offer no advice as to how to CONVINCE them. A sugar glider is a long term pet that takes ALOT of care and TIME. EVERY DAY. Not saying you cannot handle it. Perhaps you are one of the few who can at a young age. EVen adults have trouble wit hthem. Some people however are able and willing to do all this.
Look at what I have asked you, and if you can answer yes to these questions, then bring up to your parents how good you have cared for all your animals. How good you have taken responsability for them.
You want a pet you can BOND with. And it is impossible to BON with a reptile!
YOu can carry the glider around wit hyou. he wuold be your pal. They are not smelly pets. They have clean low odor feces. Thier fur is soft like a chinchillas. They keep themselves very clean. And hey, you do not have to feed it live food!
I hope it works out for you, or you find a pet that will.
Perhaps a chinchilla? They take less care and less interaction. Same soft fur, cool to look at. Fun to watch bounce around the house. EASIER TO FEED. Fun to watch bathe in lava dust. Just overall easier to care for and still alot of fun and exotic.
Just a thought.
Goodluck.
