Glider won't eat protein portion of diet.

WildGenesis Oct 26, 2005 01:21 PM

HI,
I'm having a bit of trouble getting my glider to eat the protein portion of his diet. I'm feeding him a diet that was advised to me by a petstore owner. The diet consists of fresh fruit supplemented with rep-cal, a parrot mix, a mixture of exoticvnutrition's insectivore fare with kiten food, and mealworms.
He loves the parrot mix and fruit but has nothing to do with the insectivor kitten food mixture nor the meals worms. I really needs his protein,as a balanced diet is mandatory. Any tips or ideas?
Thanks
~LaTonya

cat or dog food is not a good source of protein. Many use chicken breast in a proven diet. I don't like the sounds of the petstores diet. I'm going to include several links you may want read. Also a few other forums because this doesn't seem to have much activity.

Thanks,
I thought the part about the parrot mix sounded kind of strange for a glider too. I'll be sure to check out those links.

Personaly, I would think the Parrot mix would be way off. Perhaps give him the runs or worse.
As for the meat part, try hardboiled egg or cooked chicken.
YOu can also try geting a jar of baby food meat sticks out of the baby isle at the grocery store. NOT to be confused wit hvienna sausages. The baby food meat sticks ar usually LOVED and you have to be caerfuly you dont PVER FEED them. They will usually gorge on those.
ALSO, don't forget to add fresh vegi's!

Hi Zoolady,
Thanks for the advice. I think my glider just needed some time to get settled into his new home, his appitite has picked up greatly, he can't get enough mealworms now, he loves them.LOL.I agree with you about the parrot mix, I cut that from his diet long ago. I'll have to check out those baby meat sticks
