Hello i am new! my name is Jenna, nice to meet you guys! hopefully you all can help me with this situation that i will need to figure out soon...

I work at PetSmart and for a long time I was really wanting a flying squirrel. There is lady that always comes in to buy mealworms who told me she had sugar gliders and said that her male accidently got away but her female recently gave birth to two babies. I have called her and I am going tomorrow to see the momma. We currently do not know sex of the babies (they are still in pouch), but there are only three gliders and she wants a little friend for her female, but is wanting to give away a baby esp. if it is a male. I have read different sites and sources (even breeder sites) that say a single glider can be happy if given at least 2-3 hours of attention a day. (i can carry it in my pocket during the day, and sit with it on the porch at night) i have given it much consideration and i may bring up that she could neuter if one of the babies is male since she's worried about inbreeding problems. I'm not sure if she will want to take care of three gliders though. does anybody have some thoughts?? i will post again tomorrow after i have seen the momma and talked to her again. i may eventually be able to get another glider one day, although it wouldn't be in the near future.

I have a couple questions though. Approximately how much can i expect to pay for food monthly? i am aware vitamins last awhile but what about fresh and staple food? are they expensive just in general or are they pretty affordable? are they normally really healthy or is it necessary for them to go to the vet often or annually? if so, how much does it normally cost to take them to the vet? im not looking for exact answers but just an estimate since i am a college student. it may not be the best time to get one if it wont fit my budget but i thought it would be fun since i know a lot about their care, and since she wants to give one away. although i am still heavily considering it since it seems that squirrels tend to be healthier, although on flip side i don't think they ride in pockets as well as gliders.

PS-if anyone knows a great site with food recipes to follow please show me!! i am going to need help to make sure i am balancing food correctly. i will hopefully be able to print something out for my fridge so i can remember everything and switch stuff up. thank you guys for all your help!! i am going to need if i take on this little baby. i know i would be a good home and i would be worried if she gave it to anybody else.
