refusing crickets?

spazbat17 May 30, 2007 09:15 PM

Well i got some crickets for my babies and only one of them, one of my girls (Elara) and she was really great at it and loved them, but the other two (Kek (m) and Cider (f)) didnt even seem to want them, cider sniffed them when they were near but other than that they didnt even try to get them. im just curious if theres a way to make them more interested or if its just a personal preference thing. Thanks

Well, one way of making them interested is to to break the cricket in half so that the juices will attract them to eat. Sugar gliders are usually CRAZY about crickets. I don't know how old yours are, but sometimes they just have to learn how to eat them- and what I said above is how you'd teach them to. If you haven't already, try feeding them small mealworms and once they get used to them, try bigger mealworms, then try crickets again. Though crickets are a favorite for my gliders and most others I've known, remember that they can be very picky and moody about food at times, especially when it's something new. just break em in slowly and soon they'll be snatching them out of your fingers
