Half-blind mouse

Hey,
I have two female mice and recently I noticed one of them had an eye infection. I asked the pet shop what to do and they told me the bedding, which was at the time sawdust, was a possible cause. I changed the bedding to what they suggested (which is like a kitty litter which is made of like recycled pape), which had no small particles that can cause eye irritation. I was away on holidays for about three weeks ( I had a friend look after my mice) and when I returned, I noticed that the originally minor eye infection has become much worse. It has reached the point where the eye has become clouded (it almost looks like a cataract), and it seems as though the mouse has little to no vision in that eye. The other eye appears completely normal. Any ideas what has happened? And any suggestions as to what I should do about it?

Thanx in advance!

Take it to a vet. The eye infection could have been caused by an allergic reaction to the sawdust or a piece of sawdust could have lodged into the eye and has since become infected. A vet would be able to diagnose the problem more acurrately.
