new female.. fighting??

Venus_Spirit Jan 17, 2004 02:03 PM

Well we just got a new female. She is black with a brown belly.. very beautful. We scrubbed the cage clean and put in extra hiding places. The put her in the tank with the other 3 girls. Our black female is picking on her. I know they fight a little bit to see who is boss, but our black one is backing the new girl into a corner the picking on her. The she runs around the tank and does it again. The new female is shaking like she is scared. How long will they do this? I know if it gets too rough.. bloody, to remove the new girl.

Thanks for any help..

Venus

Oh ya we had 4 babies but sadly all died within a couple of hours. After talking with a Vet he said this is common with feeders.. but oh well life goes on.

I am not the best person to answere this, but since you are not getting an answer from anywhere else I will try to remember what I have read. You scrubed it out which is good, but i think that most people try to introduce mice on neutral ground, not in the mices normal cage. I think that if they are just fighting but there is not really tearing each other appart it will stop once dominance has been established.
Below is a good site to check out for this type of thing.

what you want is about half way down the page I think.
