I am new to keeping mice really they are my husbands but as usual I will end up looking after them the thing is I think we have one female and one male as one is chasing the other and looks as if it is trying to mate they are not fighting having babies will not bother me and I have read all I can on the subject as I always do before purchasing a new pet but I may need some helpful advice if it does happen just have to wait and see if they are mating will let you know the outcome

Adult male mice have very noticeable testicles underneath their tail. Keep in mind that they can suck in their testicles if nervous but they should come back out once settled in your hand or cage. Another way to tell the difference between a male and female is the distance between their anus and uretha. It is much further apart in males than females.

Mounting behaviour can also be just dominance displays between two females.
