What happened?

dinus Mar 06, 2004 12:47 AM

I have 3 females and 2 males. the 3 females are together and the 2 males sepatate. today the one female was outside the cage somehow. she had a swollen rear end and appeared to have a blood clot where hey "feminine opening" is. The females never bothered her. The males i dont think had contact with her and wouldnt have done that anyway. Did she fall??? how did this happen?

She may have fallen, but more likely she either has a uterine infection or else the males got to her. Are they in cages or tanks? If they have bars of any sort, males can mate with females through bars.I would take her to a vet to have her looked at. Mice mating usually doesn't cause blood. Its possible one of them bit her, but I'm leaning toward an infection of some sort. Without treatment she could die very quickly and suffer a great deal of pain.
