mice with diarrhea

tomorrow264 Dec 10, 2004 12:04 AM

I got two female mice on Sunday from the local pet store and they have had diarrhea since I got them. I suspect that they might be pregnant since they were in a cage with males. Could them being pregnant cause them to have diarrhea? If not is it safe to treat them for it if they could be pregnant?

being pregnant won't cause diarrhea. A change in diet could cause it. What are you feeding them?

I am feeding them Kaytee Fiesta Mouse and Rat. They had the diarrhea when I got them a week ago today and they still have it.

ALot of diarrhea isn't good and I am starting to suspect it is more a internal problem. Take a 'sample' to a vet for testing, could be internal parastes. I would also take the mice as well. Make sure they are drinking alot.

Also, find out what the previous owner was feeding and switch to that, to see if it makes any difference. Unless they had diarrhea with them as well.

The link below also has information about what commonly causes diarrhea in mice. Certainly well worth a look (the rest of the website has great information about mice care as well).
