Mouse colour....

jen_babe Apr 05, 2005 09:59 PM

Hey all.

I'm new to this forum, putting up my first post. I'm a mouse breeder and thought it might be interesting to join this forum. I currently have 9 breeding pairs, 7 pairs registered.

Anyway, just wanted your opinion on a mouse I kept out of my last longhaired litter. I crossed a solid black longhair male with a fawn brindle semi-longhair female, both black-eyed. The male I kept was a solid fawn pink eye, however, after his first moult his colour has changed to a dull fawn, with a blue fleck through his coat. His belly is fawn , with his entire undercoat a blue. What would you guys define his colour as? I've never had one like this and I need to know, for the sake of breeding, so I can select who I breed him to.

Appreciate any help you guys can give me would be much appreciated.

Luv Jen

Maybe an agouti fawn...take some pics of him and the rest of your mice, and post them here. You can use the free photo gallery available as well, 20 whole MB's, which is alot of pictures when sized right. Can't wait to see you collection!

I myself don't have any mice anymore, but used to breed them for fun, was working on getting a black eyed white and my last litter had a few which were nearly completely white with the black eyes. Also was going to work on a dalmation pattern..but had to sell the entire collection when I moved out of the townhouse. I am in an appartment and can't have the stink of male mice, would stink up the entire apartment. Before I contained it in a single room, which wasn't bad, here I don't have the extra bedroom to use. Unfortunately it gets too cold to keep them on my deck all year around so no more mice for me till I get my own house.

Well, just letting u know that I spoke to the Mouse Fanciers Society and they took a look at him and he's apparently called an argente.

Btw, I recently bred a litter of rex's and I actually got two pure white black eyed rex females. Both of them were sold directly to a girl who shows and breeds her mice.

Anyway, I'll post some pics of my breeding mice when I figure out how to use my useless computer. I've been talking to the Mouse fanciers Society and I'm considering becoming a registered breeder.

Anyway, thanx for ur reply.

See ya!

Jen
